All is ok!

Thanks for all of your well wishes and thoughts. Sorry to worry anyone with the lateness of this post.

What a day!

My OB was backed up 1.5 hours. We also had a patient emergency earlier today that necessitated police involvement (a very rare event), and then I had back-to-back sessions until just now, so this is the first I could post.

The OB's staff  was a little funny today. They were convinced I am 12 weeks pregnant because someone had input the wrong date in the computer. They didn't want me to have an ultrasound and were going to do a doppler instead. "We'll just take a listen." (I don't think so!!) They finally gave in and said I could have an abdominal ultrasound when I said absolutely no to the doppler, but they still seemed to think they were clearer on how far along I am than I am. Ummm, no, unless I've fallen through a wormhole, I am in my 9th week. I need an ultrasound. A transvaginal ultrasound, please. Which my OB concurred with immediately once she was finally on the scene.

So with the ultrasound we saw that...

Baby is alive!! Measuring 9 weeks 5 days, so one day ahead. You could see him/her waving arms and legs and twisting his/her whole torso, too. Wow! This embryo is really, really active. It was something to see.

My OB says all continues to look very, very good, and that our risk of miscarriage is down to 2%ish at this point.

Still trying to process this. All is well! Better than well! I am still shockingly pregnant!

Good news!! Continued good news!!! Whoever would have thought?

Mo

  2. Having gotten that first in ...

How very odd about the staff. And, again, yay!!! I am so excited for you.

Finally, sorry to hear you had to deal with bringing in the police. That doesn't sound like fun.

  6. Yay! Yippee! Hugs and/or High Fives (you can choose!) I've been reading your blog since the beginning, and I'm so happy for you two, with the continuing good news! It is a little weird, though, that the staff couldn't do the math correctly.

  12. Been following you for so long now. So happy for you, your story has given us hope they this can actually happen even for us, I hope. We have been though 6 failed cycles and we did our final and last at CCRM. We did get some normals but that is not guaranteed so I still have the anxiety and fear that comes with and I do not think it will ever go away. I'll keep praying for you and will be back for updates :)

  18. Yeah!! I am glad you were able to successfully advocate for yourself and the baby. Sometimes the silly mistakes they make illustrate how human they are and how we need to stay on top of things.

  19. Hell, yeah!

Laughing, crying, cheering, whooping, exhaling over here. So glad to read this.

  41. This is HUGE getting past that 9 week mark! I was so worried when you delayed in posting! Don't you know the whole blogosphere is rooting for you??? I am so happy for you guys. The drama at the OB's office seems silly, but they aren't used to multiple early ultrasounds like the RE's offices are! You will have to post a pic of baby Wilmo :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow oh wow oh wow, Mo & Will! You are decidedly pregnant with a normally progressing pregnancy and have passed a huge personal milestone. I could not be happier for you if you were my own sister (and brother-in-law).

Your situation has made me the happiest of any in a long, long time (having stepped away from ART). It is so overdue and so deserved.

I know it is still day-by-day, week-by-week, and it is likely to remain so for the duration. I hope you have longer spurts of peaceful enjoyment and gratitude.

    Many congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  43. So, so, SO HAPPY for you! I've been checking all day and then was driving and wishing I could check! Yay! I could not be happier right now!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Such great news and just what I wanted to hear!! Probably impossible, but maybe now you can maybe, just a little, start to enjoy this? I hope you get to have that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wondering if I am the only one today @10:45 that thought of you and said a quick prayer. I felt like creepy stalker after when I kept checking your blog for an update :-) This is fabulous news!! Keep up the good work mama!

  50. 98% 98% 98%!!! The Twinks and I are all jumping up and down for you over here!!!

On a side note, any idea why medical professionals focus on the 2% risk vs. the 98% viability - or am I just "glass half full" kinda crazy?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Cartwheels and cheers! So glad Mo!

    ReplyDelete
  52. congratulations mo and will!

wow, you are really stacking up the pile of days behind you. this is such a good day! one day at a time... just cross them off...

i am so happy to read this update. it caught me by surprise- and i usually follow the blog multiple times a day, for some reason i forgot about today's u/s! hurray!

your ob is awesome. very soon, you will be able to hear on a doppler. maybe one or two more u/s, and then buy a home doppler form babybeats or wherever. it will help a lot.

are you working? are you taking it easy? how is the med weaning going? i am curious about your protocol for the immune issues- how often do they check your various levels, etc?

have you spoken with dr.sch? i hope he knows how well things are going!

celebrate each small milestone! yay fr twisting, waving limbs! it is really happening!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Time to start looking out at the scenery again, because you in a whole new land, my dear. Welcome!

I will tell you that these in between weeks are tough ones. I bought the Doppler, which I recommend over renting (I did both). I did only use it once a week or so when I became convinced of doom. With luck, you will continue to have care through these weeks and sweet peeks at your critter. One day at a time, one week at a time, you will make it!

Congratulations on your official BFP! It's happening!

  56. So so so happy for you guys!!! and with regards to your last post, my cousins housekeeper had a knack for picking genders for preggos around her town(suburbs of NYC), she was almost 100%, you never know :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh thank god! I have been nervously checking all day, then was away from my computer this afternoon and was just nervous then. I saw the title and said out loud "oh thank god."

    hooray!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. WONDERFUL!

That sounds SOOOO much like my first OB appointment! There I was, a nervous wreck and it took over an hour to be seen. And I remember arguing with them about the due date, being like.... UM, we KNOW when conception took place! I also remember being moved from one room to another so they could do a transvaginal ultrasound.

My OB was high risk, and he was awesome. BUT, the practice was extremely busy and there were often times when I felt rushed. There were three docs in the office, and I rotated between them throughout my pregnancy.

I guess my point is, I had to be my own advocate. I feel that I was very much spoiled by my RE.

I loved those first few ultrasound when there was so much space, and the babies could be all swimmy!

    So happy for you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Excellent news. So happy that you stood your ground about getting a transvaginal u/s and that everything continues to look beautiful. I feel like rolling my eyes at the nursing staff for second guessing you, of all patients. Not only are you super informed and knowledgeable, but ahem, this is your body!

Sounds like you had a very rough day at the 'office' with having to call in the police. I'm wishing for many calm days ahead, work-wise, and that this pregnancy will start to feel more real and secure as the days and weeks go by.
