Still alive

I went in before office hours to my new OB this morning.

She is so, so nice and saw me right away.

The embryo is still there, tiny heart beating away. Baby measuring on track, 8 weeks, 2 days. You could see little arm and leg buds this time. That's new since last Thursday. With the waving arm and leg buds, it is now a very cute blob, instead of just a blob.

In other news, I managed to inject myself successfully with the progesterone in oil and walk Ms. Moxie last night and again early this morning. All by myself. Feeling very advanced over here. I think the injection actually hurt less than when Will does it for me. Hmmm...

So in summary:

Phew!

For now.

We'll go back next Wednesday and see what's what.

That'll be a big hurdle. We've never made it that far before.

Praying all's quiet in the uterus until then.

Mo

  2. BIG sigh of relief here! I've been thinking about you all night. So glad things are just as they should be. I love your OB, too, by the way. Very cool of her to see you this morning. There hasn't been anymore spotting, right? Hang in there, Mo. We are all right here with you and we think you are doing a great job of trying to hang onto your sanity. Great Monday update!

  3. Wonderful news. Are you still on the suppositories? Perhaps the blood was from your cervix due to irritation. Take care.

    Seriously, so relieved!

  12. breathing a sign of relief for you, Mo. It sounds like you've just added a new amazing person to your team. That OB scores mucho bonus points for that responsive attitude.
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts, dear woman. Hang in there.

  16. So very happy you went for the u/s and it was such good news!!!!!!! You and Will must be beyond relieved. So happy the OB saw you. I don't need to say it, but take care of yourself and do not overdo! Really happy and relieved in Rochester.

  18. HOORAY!!!!

You are a rock star, your own PIO!

So hopeful for the next scan.

  19. Oh what a relief! I remember that feeling myself after numerous scares and spotting episodes throughout my pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. What a wonderful doctor you have, to be so accommodating, and I'm so glad you were able to see little legs and arm buds!! Try to put your feet up as much as possible and drink lots of water. That's what my CCRM nurse would tell me anytime I started spotting like that. I'm feeling so good about things for you!!

  20. Phew! Oh please, oh please uterus, be quiet and compromising!! Thinking of you all.

  21. Given how anxiety ridden you were over the physical symptoms you were having (the spotting, the feeling suddenly "different"), I hope that this reassurance will give you something to hold on to in the coming days...that you can think something has happened but that things are moving along normally. I KNOW what a tall order that can be, but as I white knuckled my way through weekly 1st trimester u/s with my RE, to the point where I thought I would puke, he looked me squarely in the eyes one day and told me I was going to have to come to terms with being pregnant, lest I spend the balance of my pregnancy in utter fear. The fear never totally abated, but his words stayed with me and struck a chord.

I think the effort should be in trying to find neutrality, vigilance without insanity (and you know what I mean re: DBTs, etc.).

Hang in there. We are pulling for you and sending our collective positive energy of protection to you and the growing life within.

  22. oh good news!! i'm so glad you went in this am - very very glad. and just a thought, but could that little bit of spotting be from the suppositories? i found them very, um...irritating. and i think you are right about self-injecting the pio - it definitely hurts less when you do it yourself. i won't let DH anywhere near me with needles. keep up the good gestating work!

  23. Phew!! I'm sorry that you had day/ evening of terror, but am thrilled that things are going well.

I found doing the shots myself much less painful. ALso, I have trouble relinquishing control, so it's better for all concerned.

Yay for Mo who can manage everything!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Such great news!! What is up with pio shots being more difficult to do yourself, but less painful than when someone else does them?? There were a few tines I had to go it alone and my bum was almost.....grateful.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh phew...I don't know how I missed your earlier post. Believe me, I know how scary spotting can be! But I'm SO glad everything is okay...YAAY!

Mo, I have a question for you - are you doing your C.CRM pregnancy ultrasounds/bloodwork separately from your OB ultrasounds? In other words, are you not having your OB send results to C.CRM? I know when I called one of the OBs offices they said they wouldn't take you until after you were released from C.CRM, so was just curious what you were doing. I did manage to get an appointment with an OB around 8.5 weeks, and I am wondering if I should do a separate one for C.CRM somewhere else.

I can't wait until you get past next week...will be such a milestone! Congrats on 8 weeks...

  26. Newbie -

I'm still going to my old RE to get the blood work drawn. they are so on it about getting it done early with same day results and having them sent to denver with no fuss. if denver needs to see more u/s reports, i guess I'll try to have my ob print them out and i'll send them myself...cross that bridge when i come to it...

    mo

    ReplyDelete
  27. oh, and newbie...i had the first u/s at my RE's...and that was sent to denver...not sure if they will need repeats or not...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hooray! I'm glad you were able to get the reassurance you needed, and yay you for doing your own PIO - it's the only shot I haven't done myself. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Great news! Continuing to pray for you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Can you have a buddy help with the Moxie walks? Im sure all is well but curious if that would take some stress off. LOVE the little gummi bear phase. Praying so much that this is THE ONE.

  31. SO happy to read this! Yay for cute blobs. And injecting your own PIO? You're a braver woman than I.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am so glad you got an u/s this morning to reassure you! So happy you have made it past 8 weeks! I ended up doing all of my own PIO injections. It actually hurt more when my DH did it. Maybe it was just a control thing :) So glad baby is waving his/her buds!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yay yay yay. This all sounds fabulous and am I so glad -- and that you were able to update us though of course that is not the important part!

As noted previously, what you are describing (self-administration preferable to alternative) was my experience with the PIO, interesting that you found it so, too. I did forget to mention that I also included a post-PIO self-administration of a small amount of dark chocolate, just in case that's useful applicable information ;) !

    ReplyDelete
  34. SO glad u got to see your "cute blob" wiggling away in there- AWESOME!

    ReplyDelete
  35. So glad to see this post! I hope you are able to get at least a few days' reassurance out of this until Will gets back.

  36. I am thrilled to read this. I am praying and sending out sticky baby vibes to the universe daily on your behalf. I love your new OB too.

  37. "Advanced"? Heck, I think you're GIFTED! LOL.

Great news! And love, love, love the little pic waving. So funny, and appropriate.

    HUGH deep breath...you did it!!!

  38. Glad you went for the scan and that all is well!

  39. Very very good news, just keep breathing (both of you)!

  40. Yay for waving arm and leg buds. I think I love your OB for being so good to you. Hoping hard for next Wednesday!

Also, I'm unbelievably impressed that you managed the PIO by yourself. When I was in the situation of my husband being away for a few days, I drove twenty minutes to my clinic every morning for a nurse to stick me in the butt.

  41. Waves of relief washing over everyone. So glad you had a good visit with your Ob. I feel a kinship with you, Mo. I'm on my 4 th pregnancy in 9 months, the first three ending in miscarriages. I'm also 8 weeks 2 days along. Hoping and praying that this will be our lucky one.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Awesome! So glad she was able to get you in and give you a little bit of reassurance.

    ReplyDelete
  43. So glad things are all OK....keeping you in my prayers for things to continue well.

  44. SO HAPPY! Sounds like your OB is a great. I'm so glad :)

  45. So very, very happy that all is well for you! Grateful that all is well and that you got a brief reprise from the fear. Sending hugs and lots of prayers up for you, Will and Lucky #7!

  46. Great news and that OB does sound amazing so happy you found someone caring! Hope the spotting stays away for the rest of the pregnancy!

    ReplyDelete
  47. This is terrific news, Mo! I am so happy that everything is still looking good.

How do you do the PIO shots yourself? I am gearing up for my FET on Wed and I will have to do the shots myself on occassion when my husband is out of town and can't for the life of me figure out how I'm going to do them! Its such a hard angle to get that needle in the butt area - do you do them in your leg instead?

    ReplyDelete
  48. What a great way to start your week! Glad your OB was able to help you out this morning!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yay! So happy for you. Great news all around.

  50. Lisa

No. Not the leg. I would recommend against that. I sit down and twist around to the right location (Will drew two circles for me to make it easier). It's a little awkward, but it works. Good luck!

  51. Mo, I propped up a little mirror so I could see what I was doing on my non-dominant side. Also, doing them myself, drawing back was not going to happen. It wasn't a problem. Even if you do hit a capillary and bleed, it's really okay. The PIO is in, it's not going to come out with the blood.

And I agree with Alexicographer, a little something from Mr. Chocolate post injection sounds like a great idea.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm not allowed any chocolate (or anything else with caffeine), per Denver's orders, until the second trimester : (

  53. Oh, well. One. More. Month. (!!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  54. So pleased that everything is okay. And great job on the PIO injections, it is not easy the angle is awkward and it is just counter intuituitive to poke yourself with a needle.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yay baby Mo! Grow, grow, grow little blob with arm and leg buds...grow!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Praying right along with you. I hope you have a very uneventful week!

  57. phew is right!

it's amazing how very reassuring seeing that flutter is.

I remember I'd be convinced every time that the baby was gone, and just hearing the HB or seeing that flicker? priceless.

thinking of you and just hopingwishingprayingpleading so hard. xo

  64. Yay! Glad you got some reassurance, and hope you'll have an even better scan next week. Your OB sounds totally wonderful!

How I'm feeling guilty about having a couple slices of chocolate birthday cake, and another couple tiny chocolates here and there. Hope it wasn't enough to cause a problem.

  65. Yay! So glad for you. Good job on walking Moxie! :D

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hang in there Mo, you and the cute blob are doing just fine!

  67. So happy to hear this news, and very glad you have managed to find an OB who is so good and understanding.

After several losses, I really struggled with my first "sticky" pregnancy. God, I was a wreck. It's almost been four years, and I can still recall that constant mixture of nausea and terror. Yet, somehow, that one worked out. More and more I think it was the IVIG.

Anyway, thinking of you -- and hoping you will soon be able to take that 'elastic-paneled leap of faith' into new pants, etc.
