Beta news

The beta is in! Thanks for all of your well wishes, as well as the reality testing that I wasn't imagining the second line.

Based on our calculations, I'm four weeks pregnant, about 15 days past ovulation (the OB said, "Well, you certainly didn't waste any time!" Um, nope. Have you seen our track record? This hasn't exactly been speedy or cheap.)

So, here are the bloodwork results:

HCG = 188 (!!!)

Estrogen = 271

Progesterone = 39

Both the RE and OB agree that this is definitely a new pregnancy, not a leftover from our chemical in May.

Direct RE quote received via email late last night: "all perfect. Great! No progesterone or estrogen supplements needed."

To have the word "perfect" applied to something baby-related in my body?! Cannot compute.

Of course, we'll be following the beta obsessively. Erm, cough, I mean closely.

These are good numbers! WE ARE PREGNANT!!! (again!!) Will and I are basking in this unexpected news. As we have learned through hard experience, we will assume nothing. Take nothing for granted. We will be experiencing pregnancy #5 one ecstatic, cautious day at a time.

Crazy, huh? Who ever woulda thunk?

So I guess we have to cancel the one-day work-up in Colorado?

Mo

  23. this is so so exciting! you are pregnant! i am thrilled for you - i am so excited to move you to my pregnant folder!

    keep us updated. what is your due date? you are going to make it there, i just know it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Poppy and Gabby -

    Poppyseed, do you think 1mg (1000 mcg) of folic acid is enough? That's what's in my prenatal.

    Gabby - yes! put me in your pregnant folder! But no due date calculated...too scary for me. Will be waiting a long time to do that...Otherwise my calendar would be littered with unfulfilled due dates, you know?

    Thanks for the all the positive thoughts!

  36. Mo, have you been tested for MTHFR? If you tested negative, 1mg of folic is fine. If you tested positive or haven't been tested, adding another mg can't hurt.

    I know it's early, and you both must be beyond anxious, but assuming all continues well, I think you should spend the travel money for Denver on a chic maternity wardrobe! Oh! You are going to be so cute with a baby bump!

  51. Thrilling news. I'm right there with everyone else - hoping this one is THE ONE - the miracle we've all been hoping is right around the corner for you both.

    ReplyDelete
  52. OH Mo! Will! How fabulously wonderful! I'd cross my fingers very tightly on your behalf, but years of doing so for myself has proven they don't work so I'm leaving them flopping loosely ... however ... here's hoping for you.

    Though REs are loathe to admit it, I'm entirely convinced that their interventions (though sometimes necessary) come with costs to embryo quality and other important things. Here's hoping that this unassisted pregnancy is the perfect blend of your bodies' natural abilities and that it will last an uneventful 9 months and bring a healthy baby into your lives.
