Decision made

Thanks for all of your thoughts and opinions and reasonings on whether to see the reproductive immunologist or not. Very, very helpful.

After much deliberation, Will and I decided we will see him on Monday. We're not really expecting a whole lot, except a $1,000 bill for the consultation, but we figure we'll give it a try and see what he has to say anyway. If we decide to do the testing, that's another $700-$2,000 and then the follow-up appointment is another $500. Ugh. We hope for all of that, he has something useful to add to the mix, and we've decided to take the chance that maybe he will.

Talking about this, we also came to the realization that when we think of reproductive wizards, the person who repeatedly springs to mind is the clinic director in Colorado. So we are going to try to gather our emotional and financial resources and make a trip out there this fall for the one-day work up. That's the plan at least. In the past, when we have planned this (twice), we have gotten pregnant. Which would also be a very fine outcome.

So there you have it. Update to come, both on the immunologist visit and the pending results from the endometrial function test.

But first, check back Monday for the next installation of Hallmark rejects...and let us know if we're on the right track.

Mo

  1. That's great. At least now, you will hear what he has to say and be able to decide if this is what you want. Don't you wish you earned $1000 per consultation? :D The center in Denver...same as the elves Mr.IVF saw?

  2. I think you made the right decision. This way you'll have any and all information possible before embarking on your next cycle. Knowledge is power! We paid out of pocket for all of our cycles, meds, testing, etc. so I know just how it feels to mentally tabulate the bill. Hope you get some answers on Monday. Thinking of you!

  3. Great decision, and I'm also thrilled to hear that you've decided to go to CO. I also traveled from NYC to go there, and the one-day workup convinced us that we would find our answers there. They have seen it all, and I firmly believe they are worth every penny. Hope Monday is productive!

  4. I'm glad you decided to go through with the appointment in addition to giving the CO clinic a chance. I'm assuming it's the same place we went. They do see a ton of people, many of whom are from out of state or from other countries and they somehow make it work. Good luck to you both.

  6. I hope things go well with the appointment. My Mom told me about IF that we can always make more money but we can't get time back. I so went into the wrong field though.

As for the wizard... all he was for me was a man hiding behind a curtain with DE. I hope they have more hope and answers for you.

  7. I also think you've made a good decision - what's a little more money, as long as you leave no stone unturned and have no regrets.
I'm giving up a lot of income to try to keep this pregnancy going, on the off chance that taking it easy will help. It'll all be worth it in the end, I hope.
    Good luck with your consult!

  10. I love having a plan, and I love having made a decision. I hate the inbetween place. So-- on your behalf, HURRAH! for a plan and it sounds sane and reasonable, Mo, it does.

And by the way, your pup is insanely cute, oh my goodness. What a great diversion!

thank you for your sweet support. This really does suck ass, and I am hopeful for all of us that a good outcome is just around the corner.

    warmly,
    Kate

  12. I'm glad you made the decision and glad you are going to pursue CCRM. Hope the appointment went well today--interested to hear what he had to say. Let me know if you have any questions re: CCRM.

  13. you cant narrow an open mind - so good call I guess on seeking further information. The baby makers in teh mountains (with elves) will probably strongly suggest donor, so one to think about. Mrs IVF was ready for that. I wasn't.
