Reassured

Thanks for all of your reassuring comments. The spotting has stopped, thank God. And hearing all your stories of totally normal pregnancies and births after spotting really, really helped. So thank you. Very, very much.

Mo

  4. Mo, glad to hear the spotting stopped. I also wanted to share another reassuring story in an attempt to ease your worries (like that's possible, right?!). At exactly 6wks K, our GC, had one episode of bright red bleeding that was followed by a little brown the next day. She had an u/s that day and they didn't see any intra-uterine bleeding, so the doc chalked it up to the highly vascular cervix being irritated by something. Well 3 wks later she hasn't had even one more drop of brown. I'm hoping that your situation is similar b/c it's frickin' scary and makes the worrying worse! Thinking of you, Will, and the litte one!

  5. I had first-trimester spotting from about week five through as late as week twelve with two of my three pregnancies, all of which resultsed in take-home babies (one of whom was a thirty-five weeker whose pregnancy yielded no spotting, one of whom was a thirty-five weeker whose pregnancy did, and one of whom was a thirty-eight week size induction. It's scary as hell, and nothing is more beatiful than that heartbeat on the screen. So happy all is well.

  6. I'm glad the spotting stopped. Take it easy and find some distractions. Find some calming activities after all this stress.

  7. I'm sorry I didn't post earlier to ease your mind, but I had bright red bleeding at 5.5, 8, and 11 wks (and I mean red with clots (sorry, TMI) that there was no way that I thought the pregnancy was continuing and yet, it did and I delivered by planned c-section at 38 weeks (I will not get into my 5 months + 1 wk of bed rest) and my son is now 28 months.
Some REs believe that spotting and/or bleeding occurs in up to 70%of IVF pregnancies for reasons not entirely known.
And, one thing to also note, is that it's most likely to happen at around 4 wks, 8 wks, 12, and 16 wks...when one's "period" would be due.

  8. So glad things have cleared up. Maybe doesn't matter at this point, but I also experienced bleeding early on during both my successful pregnancies.

  9. It is so, so scary. Been there, done it 3x in the first tri and it is so scary every time and I have not suffered the loss you have, so I cannot imagine the fear in your heart. Hoping this is the first and last of it! Wishing you the most normal and uneventful pregnancy in history :)HUGS

  11. I'm so glad everything worked out. As a frequent spotter myself, I will urge you to not freak out if it happens again, but realize that's the most useless advice ever. Here's hoping it's stopped for good, for your sanity.
