Q: What does a beta of 12,691 look like on an HPT?

I know you've been wondering. Just what does a beta of 12,691 look like on a home pregnancy test?

It's a popular question. One that maybe has been nagging at you, just at the edges of your mind.

Well, wait in suspense no longer. Turns out, I can help you out here.

First of all, let me show you what it doesn't look like.

It doesn't look like our home pregnancy test on beta day. Which looked, well, like not a whole lot really (beta = 26.8).

Instead, a beta of 12,691 (31dp5dt) looks like this:

Yowza, no mistaking the line at this point. Although when I first saw the FRER test, I panicked for a milisecond because the one line was so faint. But then I realized that the test line had soaked up all the ink, leaving the control line looking woefully insufficient.

That's some line, though, isn't it?

It's probably getting really tiresome to see these POAS posts, but I guess I just remain incredulous that we are pregnant at all, let alone that we are still pregnant.

I wonder how long it will take to sink in?

Mo

  1. Now THAT is what I call a BFP! You are so cute with all your POAS posts. I know your mind must be all consumed at this point. Can't wait to hear about your u/s tomorrow. Continued best wishes and positive thoughts.

  2. I found your blog a few months ago as a friend of mine was looking into embryo adoption and now I check it every day to see how your doing. Congratulations! Think positive and try and enjoy all of it. Although we never ended up with a healthy pregnancy ,after 9 years and multiple IVF's, IUI's and embryo donated IVF's, we have the most beautiful little boy through adoption and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way for us. He is amazing, God has a plan for all of us, we don't undertsand why or how when we go through all the struggles but in the end it all makes sense! Don't allow any negatives in your heart, you are pregnant with a healthy embryo growing into a child! I am very excited for you both. All the best and I will continue to read your blog. Thanks for sharing it!

  3. Mo,I'm the queen of crazy in the POAS department. Let me say this- if you dilute your urine 4-fold, it may still be that dark. I think about 3000-5000 is when it maxes out my HPT brand.

In my mad-scientist-meets-neurotic pregnant-lady moments I thought about a scientific dilution series, upping the dilution factor by 2 every 4 days to be sure that the beta was actually continuing to double. I COULD do it and work it out so the results are actually interpretable, but its far too much effort, even for me.

  6. There is nothing quite like the joy of peeing on a stick and KNOWING you will get a line. I love that your second line is kicking the control line's ass. Enjoy all the peeing you want -- we'll be here to cheer you on!!

  12. Yikes, your pee stick on beta day looks negative on my screen. Damned things!!!

I buy those that read at 15 or 20 parts of hHCG (forget the units, mIU?). If I could find 10's I'd buy those. :-)

  13. I pee'd on sticks until I ran out of sticks, then I bought more. My husband thought I was insane doing HPT's at 12 weeks, but it made me feel better...

  14. That is a beautiful sight! And I did the SAME thing when I got my BFP! You are not alone.

  15. I don't know what my betas were (my RE doesn't test for them), but that's a lot like my test. Here's hoping that you have a wonderful (and full term) pregnancy!

  16. I did the same thing!! I still can hardly believe I'm 15 weeks pregnant . . . I mean seriously, we've been through so much, who can blame us, right?! Yay!!!

  17. Hahaha...I totally did the same thing! I think I spotted once or twice and sent hubby out for pee sticks even at 8 and 10 weeks pregnant. It was just so beautifully reassuring. So cool! So...you are almost approaching potential morning sickness...not that I wish that on ANYONE, though I will say through the horror of it, it was also oddly reassuring!

  18. It never sinks in all the way....it goes from "I can't believe that I am actually pregnant" to "I can't believe I am having a baby RIGHT NOW", to "I can't believe that I have a baby" and then "I can't believe my baby is already 6!" Nothing ever sinks in. I still look at my son in amazement that I am his mom!
Looking forward to hearing about your ultrasound tomorrow. Good luck...enjoy!

  19. I have found that one bonus of all this infertility crap is that our luck never quite sinks in. I have moments almost daily when I look at my children with complete awe. I am so excited for you to feel that.

  20. I will NEVER tire of seeing you post beautiful +HPTs. It's such a lovely sight to behold. :)

Wowza, those are some dark lines!

My girls are a year old and I still can't quite believe it. It'll take a while to sink in, I was in disbelief long after my babies were born.
